1. Introduction - Welcome to WBB Rugby League Club.
Welcome to WBB Rugby Club. The club is very family orientated and works hard to ensure it is inclusive to all members. The club also has a online shop.
The structure at the club is broken into two areas:- Junior Rugby, and Senior Rugby.
All coaches are at least level 1 qualified and are in possession of current CRB certificates.
Mini / Midi rugby covers ages from Under 7’s through to Under 15’s with a team at each age group. These ages train and play on Saturdayday mornings and are part of a structured fixture with all the other clubs in North Tyneside.
The rules governing the playing of rugby at Mini / Midi level are governed by a set of rules called the continuum. The continuum covers the introduction, teaching, playing and coaching in three incremental stages of Under 7-8, Under 9-10, and Under 11-12.
Junior Rugby covers Under 13’s through to Under 16’s and train during the week at the club. Their games, both home and away, are played on a Saturday morning and are organised and managed by the respective age group coaches. The rules governing the playing of rugby at Junior level are also governed by the continuum.
The Senior Rugby teams train on a Tuesday night and play on a Saturday afternoon.

The Barbarians held their very own version of “I’m a Celebrity, Get me out of Here” in the very worthy interests of child protection a select band gathered at the Young Peoples’ Centre on a, freezing cold, wet miserable Monday evening recently, when they could have been toasting their toes in front of their own firesides after along hard day at the office, in many cases. There were those who had gone hungry to be there, or who had had to contend with driving in the dark on the superb road surfaces in the area, but had battled through, regardless. Well done, one & all
Such are the demands that grassroots amateur rugby league makes on its devotees. It is no longer enough not to be a paedophile, you have also to prove, to some remote, anonymous, faceless bureaucrat that you are not, or that you haven’t been caught as yet
Jade Mackie, the NERL Volunteers Co-ordinator was in attendance, under the influence of a bad cold, to perform the necessary identifications from innumerable passports, wedding certificates, driving licences, firearms certificates, P45s., P60s, gas bills, electricity bills, water bills, bank statements, credit card statements, benefits books, alien’s, the ones from outer space ( the Barbarians haven’t any of them, being bright green, they would clash with the club colours, Ed.) residents permits etc, etc
However, some delicious cheese, rustled up by the Barbarians’ very own Master Chef, Kevin McCoy, plus the odd glass of something medicinal for those farsighted enough to have left their cars at home & walked to the Boys’ Club, helped the evening to go with something of a swing. All in all it was a pleasant social occasion, interspersed with some collective form filling, & surreptitious questions about what to do with Section X, a bit like directed study, whatever that was
7. Escalation routes
Should you be dissatisfied with any aspect of the club then your first point of contact should be with the Lead Coach for that age group. More serious issues should be raised with the appropriate coach. Any issues you have with regards child safety and protection will be flagged to the club’s child protection officer (Lynn Redshaw). If the club deems the severity of the incident to be serious then the matter will be raised with the relevant parties within North East RFL.
8. Shop and Catering Information
The club shop and kitchen are ran by volunteers and are open most Saturday mornings during the season. The shop is on our website, and the kitchen from 9:30am onwards. On the webshop you are able to buy the essentials required to kit your children out such as shorts socks and Barbarians rugby shirts. Although we don’t stock everything we are able to get one off items through our supplier. These items can be badged with the club logo but as you can appreciate these are non returnable. The kitchen provides hot food and drinks for both parents and players: a light meal is available for all players after a game.
9. Parents, Coaches and Players Behaviour
The whole ethos of the Barbarians is to create a friendly and welcoming environment. The rules for behaviour of coaches, parents and players are clearly set out by the RFl and are adhered to by the club.
10. Kit Sponsorship and Strips
The majority of playing kit is funded by the kind support and generosity of sponsors that often carries the sponsors name or logo. We are grateful for the continued support we receive in this area and always welcome new interested parties. The shop does stock the basics such as shorts, socks gumshields etc. Generally training clothing is self funded and WBB is keen to ensure that players are suitably attired for the weather conditions in line with RFL policies. All training equipment such as ball, cones, tackle shields etc are provided by the club
11. First Aid
All coaches have basic introductory first aid knowledge which is often supported by parent volunteer health professionals. The club is always keen for anyone with a medical background who is willing to be included in this role to make themselves known to the respective Chairs.
12. Club Membership
An annual membership fee is required to enrol players with the RFL. An additional membership fee is required to enrol with WBB which is used to pay for the facilities and training equipment. This also funds refreshments after games and the general maintenance of the playing areas. The annual membership fee covers a basic 3rd party insurance for the players. Should parents wish to they can take out additional insurance for their children but this is an individual choice and is not provided by the club.
