Junior BarbariansWHITLEY BAY BARBARIANS MINI LEAGUIES
The latest development in rugby league in Whitley Bay & District took place at Whitley Bay Young People's Centre this Tuesday evening. 10 youngsters, boys & girls, from local schools, in years 3 & 4, took part in a fun rugby league training session in the sports hall at the centre, sampling training drills, playing a game of tag & taking part in some fun competitions. Judging by the noise & the laughter the evening was a great success. The time certainly flew by. It seemed to be 5.30 pm almost as soon as the session had started at half-past four
Sessions are held on Tuesday evenings, in term time, from 4.30pm to 5.30pm at Whitley Bay Young People's Centre, Rink Way, Hillheads Road, Whitley Bay NE25 8Hr, tel. 0191 253 0257, & cost £1 per session per player. No specialist equipment is necessary

Whitley Bay Barbarians 78 – Whitehouse 40
Venue :- Whitehouse Lane, North Shields. KO 4.15 pm on Tuesday, 13, October, 2009 Team; Richard Allen, Aidan Bell, Hannah Bywater, Jessica Charlton, Daniel Coxall, Matthew McCoy, Adam Pattison, Kayleigh Robson, & Ethan Walton Scorers: Tries – Richard Allen, (6), Aidan Bell, (2), Matthew McCoy, (2), Adam Pattison, & Ethan Walton, (5) The evening was gloomy but the rugby league certainly lit it up. It would be something of an exaggeration to say that the defences, on either side, dominated. But the attacking efforts more than compensated for some uncertain tackling, which, it is also fair to say, improved considerably as the game wore on, & the players became more confident What was also very pleasing to see was the number of the Whitehouse players who grew visibly as the game progressed, both in attack & defence For the Barbarians Jessica Charlton had probably her best game in Barbarian colours, while Kayleigh Robson, Hannah Bywater, & Daniel Coxall all played their part. Adam Pattison ran as strongly as eve, thoroughly deserving his try, & tackled well. Matthew McCoy & Ethan Walton both undoubtedly had their best games yet for the club. Matthew ran & tackled well, & scored a brace of tries. Ethan Walton revealed a hitherto unsuspected burst of speed, plus a talent for organizing things from acting half-back, while still finding time to score five tries. Aidan Bell was a swift as usual running with the ball, despite limited opportunities. That leaves Richard Allen, who was virtually unstoppable, or uncatchable come to that, when he had the ball in his hands, & also made some crucial tackles All in all it was a thoroughly entertaining game, provided by the players of both sides MOM Richard Allen for a fine display of running with the ball.
